NEW! 2012 Update (9Jan2012)

The Board will be going to tender for a landscaping company.  We plan to approach several landscapers with our proposed scope or work and budget.

The CRRA Board plans to continue maintaining the four entrance areas into Cougar Ridge, as well as the boulevards that were enhanced with flower pots in 2011.

The Board also hopes to focus its landscaping efforts on improving the parks and pathways this year.

2011 Update (updated July 5, 2011)

This year, our goal was to improve the medians/boardwalks by adding planters of flowers and additional greenery.  All boulevards with green spaces were enhanced with new shrubs, multiple planters, mulch and annual flowers.  In addition, the four entrances that were enhanced in 2010 will continue to be maintained. Carlson Landscaping remains our third party contractor.  All plantings will be watered throughout the summer months.

Note: The City of Calgary does not allow community associations to plant/remove trees.  We do hope to eventually meet with the City’s Urban Forestry department to look into what can be done.

The CRRA acts as a liaison with the City of Calgary's parks department.

Important Note: The City of Calgary will continue to be responsible for mowing of green spaces, weeding, etc (Boulevards, parks, pathways, fields) etc.

If you have any comments/feedback on the changes/enhancements made this year, please email us at feedback@mycougarridge.com

2010 Update

In 2010,  a third party contractor was hired to start landscaping.  Carlson Irrigation was hired to help design and revamp the four main entranceways into our community.  New bushes, perennials and annuals were planted, and then maintained for the rest of the season.

In 2010, the Cougar Ridge Residents Association (CRRA) contracted Carlson Irrigation to look after our four entrance signs and help control weeds and debris within our community.

               2009 Update

No fees were collected in previous years to 2009 because the developer, did not adhere to the Articles of Association and did not proceed with the collection of fees.  The $100 fee was established by United Communities and registered as an encumbrance to all member residents of Cougar Ridge.

The Cougar Ridge Residents Association (CRRA) only became fully operational as of October 2008, when the Developer - United Communities handed over the community to the residents of Cougar Ridge.  The Board of Directors (which now consists of volunteer residents of the community) for the CRRA started meeting in October of 2008, to begin operations.

The CRRA focused on collecting the annual fee in 2009 – the first year in which collections were made. We did not hire a landscaping contractor in 2009, because we did not have any funds to do so. As a result, you did not see significant improvements in the landscaping in 2009.

Despite our lack of funds, we hope you noticed that there were some landscaping improvements over the summer of 2009. The CRRA Board of Directors and a few other neighbours volunteered their time in June 2009 to clean up the main entrance-ways into Cougar Ridge.

In addition, thanks to the tireless lobbying efforts of one of our Directors, Bruce G., The City of Calgary stepped up its level of service in our neighbourhood.
